Christian Voting 2024: Go Protect the Innocent
“The earth is the Lord's, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein.” — Psalm 24:1
Everything is spiritual. We need to let that truth grip our hearts. As believers in Jesus Christ, whatever subject we approach, there is a spiritual backdrop in everything and in everyone. God has designed things so that His will and way would be central in all we do. So why should it change when we come to the topic of voting?
Voting is not “off limits” for the church
Some believers think this subject is off limits — that it belongs to the world, and that God has no place here. But the Word of God tells us that in Him we live and move and have our being (Acts 17:28), and that even the nations of the world, and their very boundaries, were established by God.
The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein.
Psalm 24:1 (NKJV)
The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; He makes the plans of the peoples of no effect. The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of His heart to all generations.
Psalm 33:10-11 (NKJV)
God has purposes and plans He wants to carry out in the church in every generation. He is looking for hearts that are fully His in this hour. And that means we must not have a passive attitude — not simply acquiesce to everything that goes on as though it were good.
We are in a spiritual battle
In every generation there is a satanic movement against the living God. We are in a battle. There has been no time in history without this evil force in the earth. We saw it in the Garden of Eden, and then in stark manifestation when Cain murdered his brother Abel. This seed of the enemy has continued through the generations — against Israel through the heathen nations, against the early church, and down through the centuries. Scripture tells us we will see it again in the end, in the beast and antichrist system — which God will put to an end with the breath of His mouth — and even after the millennial reign, a final rebellion that God consumes with fire from heaven.
Seen through that lens, voting is not merely “another election cycle.” It is not merely choosing a man. There are forces of darkness that seek positions of power to carry out their schemes of lawlessness. This is why we must see it through a spiritual lens.
The most important issue: protect the innocent
Please think about this deeply: voting does matter. It may not affect you personally, but there are thousands upon thousands of children who are being killed through Planned Parenthood — a government-funded agency — and this is happening not only here but across the globe. Taxpayer money goes out to strengthen the hands of agencies that perform more abortions. That is a spiritual matter. We need to expose this darkness — to go out and speak, pray, and vote.
Deliver those who are drawn toward death, and hold back those stumbling to the slaughter. If you say, “Surely we did not know this,” does not He who weighs the hearts consider it?
Proverbs 24:11-12 (NKJV)
Do not look for a perfect candidate. Donald Trump is not a perfect candidate — we know that; Jesus Christ is the only perfect One. But we are talking about policies, not the person. The point is to vote for policies that protect the innocent, that uphold law and order, and that resist the movement of lawlessness. Get out and vote — vote to protect the innocent, and vote for good policies.
